Introducing the All-New Restaurant Le Sereno
Guests are in for a delicious surprise as Le Sereno reopens its doors for the new season on October 28th. The surroundings are beautiful as ever, from Christian Liaigre’s iconic designs to the picturesque views over Grand Cul de Sac. Open the menu at Restaurant Le Sereno, however, and suddenly the Caribbean feels a whole lot like the Mediterranean.
On behalf of everyone at Le Sereno, we are proud and excited to announce the opening of a brand new restaurant unlike any other across the island. Inspired by our upcoming opening of Il Sereno by Italy’s Lake Como, the menu takes on the exquisite culinary character of Mediterranean Europe. And thanks to our partnership with none other than world-famous restaurateur Giuliano Lotto, it’s safe to assume Italian flavors play an important role.
For a preview of St. Barths’ latest dining revelation, here’s everything you need to know about the all-new Restaurant Le Sereno:
Known for his empire of Mediterranean-inspired dining establishments in London—from the French La Petite Maison to the Italian Il Baretto—Giuliano Lotto is widely regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished restaurateurs. He is often credited with revamping the UK dining scene, while also introducing the world to future culinary icons like Gordon Ramsay, Marcus Wareing, and Giorgio Locatelli. Launching Restaurant Le Sereno in partnership with Luis Contreras and Sereno Properties will be Lotto’s first foray onto the Caribbean dining scene.
Spearheading the culinary vision for Restaurant Le Sereno is Chef Alex Simone, a long-time partner of Mr. Lotto. The pair first joined forces in 2000 at Alloro Restaurant, followed by the Michelin-starred Zafferano and continuing with Aurelia and The Arts Club. Currently the Executive Chef for London’s Il Baretto, Chef Simone’s culinary style is distinctly Mediterranean—thanks in part to his previous collaboration with famous chefs such as Stefano Cavallini (the first Italian Chef who won the Michelin Star outside Italy) and Andy Needham.
Chef Simone is moving to St. Barths with his family and will add his acclaimed vision to each and every item served on the Restaurant Le Sereno menu.
Much of what made Le Sereno such a coveted dining destination in the past will be carefully maintained in the new iteration of the restaurant. Guests can expect the same exceptional service, the same elegant-yet-relaxed ambiance, and most importantly, the same impeccable location by the beach. Combined with a fully revamped menu blending Mediterranean artistry with farm-fresh ingredients, the stage is set for a truly unforgettable dining experience.
Central to Le Sereno’s new culinary profile is a classic interpretation of Mediterranean cooking tradition. Using only the freshest ingredients available in the region, Chef Simone’s menu (see below) is everything you’d expect from a Mediterranean Brasserie—from Steak Tartare and Vitello Tonnato to Poisson en Croute de Sel (fish baked in salt-crust with Lake Como aromatic herbs) and Herb-Crusted Sea Scallops with Saffron.
Following in the vision of Giuliano Lotto, Italian flavors will be especially prominent throughout the menu. Not to be missed is our signature item, Gnocchi Le Sereno, a traditional dish of Lake Como and made from unprocessed buckwheat flour with a tomato-sage sauce—as sage is the typical aromatic herb of the lake. Chef Simone’s famous Lobster Linguine is another highlight, made with fresh local spiny lobster arriving daily to Le Sereno’s private beach. Bon Appetit!
