Visiting St. Barths is a one-of-a-kind experience regardless of time of year. For guests with a soft spot for culture, however, it certainly doesn’t hurt to plan your stay around some of the island’s hottest happenings—from culinary festivals to sailing regattas.
With the new season finally upon us, here are some of the events we’re most excited about in 2015/2016.
Nov 4-8: Taste of St. Barth
The Caribbean’s premier culinary festival highlights St. Barths’ renowned restaurant scene plus several distinguished international chefs. This year’s lineup includes chefs Laurent Jeannin, Alexandre Mazzia, Yoann Conte, Jérôme Nutile, David Toutain, and Stéphanie Le Quellec.
Nov 7-8 : Piteå Day
St. Barths celebrates its partnership with twin city Piteå, Sweden with annual marathon races across the island: the children’s race and Gustavialoppet.
Nov 18-23: St Barth Cata Cup
A catamaran regatta held outside St. Jean Beach, one of the island’s most pristine stretches of coastline.
Dec 12-23: Christmas Village
Holiday market and festivities on the Quai Général de Gaulle in Gustavia.
Dec 31: New Year’s Eve Regatta
St. Barths prepares for the big night with a friendly race around the island. Open to sailboats of any size, this is a fun-filled “warm up” for visitors and locals alike.
Dec 31: New Year Eve
St. Barths’ most anticipated night of the year features music and dancing on the dock Quai Général de Gaulle, fireworks at midnight, and countless parties all across the island—from five-start restaurants to luxury yachts.
Jan 12-24: St Barth Music Festival
Internationally renowned jazz and chamber artists perform in Gustavia and Lorient for 12 days of musical celebration.
Jan 26-Feb 1: St Barth Fun Cup
An international windsurfing competition on St. Jean Beach celebrating St. Barths as one of the Caribbean’s finest watersport destinations.
Feb 9: Mardi Gras
Locals (and visitors) dress up in Mardi Gras attire for a costume parade in the streets of Gustavia.
March 17-20: Bucket Regatta
Many of the world’s finest super yachts set sail for St. Barths to compete in a 3-day, invite-only regatta around the island. Spectators can watch from land and later join in the after-parties.
March 28-April 1: Kids Trophy
The Caribbean’s top youth tennis players compete in St. Barths’ annual junior tourney.
April 1-16: Les Voiles de St. Barth
Sailing season continues with over two weeks of regattas around St. Barths featuring sailboats from classic schooners to mega-yachts.
April 3-24: Transatlantic AG2R La Mondiale
Worldclass sailing teams race 3,800 nautical miles across the Atlantic from Concarneau, France to St. Barths in one of the world’s most prestigious competitions.
April 25-30: St Barth Film Festival
Six days of movie screenings around St. Barths celebrating Caribbean culture and history.
April 28-May 1: West Indies Regatta
Different from other regattas on the island, this 3-day event is more celebratory than competitive. Wooden boats are at the forefront as St. Barths promotes the rich history of Caribbean boatbuilding.
May 13-22: St Barth Theatre Festival
Performing arts take center stage with island-wide shows by talented actors from St. Barths, neighboring islands, and France.
June 21: Fete de la Musique
Local musicians perform on the Gustavia dock starting at 5pm.
July 10-14: SBJAM Music Festival
Local organization SBJAM celebrates Caribbean musical tradition with a 5-day festival on quai Général de Gaulle.
July 14: Bastille Day
Fireworks and dancing on the Gustavia dock as St. Barths commemorates its French heritage on the country’s national holiday, Bastille Day.
Aug 1-30: St Barth Family Festival
A month-long music festival headlined by numerous famous artists performing at venues across St. Barths.
Aug 2-15: St Barth Tennis Open
St. Barths’ foremost sports event invites children and adults to the sports center in St. Jean for a two-week tennis tournament.
Aug 3-14: St Barth Summer Sessions
More music as St. Barths celebrates summer in the Caribbean with widespread performances across the island.
August 5-17: St. Barth Shopping Festival
Shoppers flock to St. Barths’ luxurious boutiques for nearly two weeks of promotions, sales, and fairs.
